The Countryside Alliance has just announced that Alice Barnard, former Regional Director covering the East Midlands, will be their new Chief Executive, following Simon Hart. As an internal candidate, she saw off tough competition for the top job from several well-qualified outsiders.
I’ve known Alice for some years, seeing her most often on Countryside Alliance stands at country shows up and down the region. She’s a very effective manager with a huge commitment to the Country Sports and to the Alliance’s objectives — including the repeal of the Hunting Act. She has also been on the Conservative Party’s candidate list.
While I’ve known her for some time, I’d never thought to look at her CV, but it’s impressive, as is her endorsement from Countryside Alliance Chairman the redoubtable Kate Hoey MP. Find it here: http://www.countryside-alliance.org.uk/our-news-and-comment/from-our-media-centre/new-chief-executive-for-alliance/
Congratulations Alice. Well done. Very best wishes for you and for the Alliance, and I shall be delighted to offer you any support I can — even if it’s only cheering from the sidelines.
