BBC: Mass extinction caused by Climate Change! (or not, as the case may be)

unnamed

This morning (July 9th) I was watching BBC World just after 6:00 a.m., in the Ibis Hotel in Strasbourg, to be greeted by the cheerful news that the world is facing its sixth mass extinction event (the fifth, 60 million years ago, saw the extinction of the dinosaurs), and that this was “caused by climate change and loss of habitat”.  A glib observation offered without justification, and straight out of the BBC’s standard alarmist phrase-book.   I can’t find a link to this morning’s broadcast, but here’s the flavour.

So I went to Google and pulled off a graph of temperature over the last 10,000 years.  The graph above is typical, based on Greenland ice cores, and is one of many.  The basic pattern is generally accepted in the scientific community.  The ten thousand year period is significant because it covers most of the current Interglacial period – and in effect the whole span of human civilisation from the earliest agriculture.  And here’s the fact that most scientists accept, and yet which climate alarmists hate to talk about.  Not only have there been successive cyclical warmings during that period, on a roughly 1,000-year cycle, but the current warming – the one causing such global anxiety, and resulting in hugely expensive mitigation policies – is minor compared to previous cycles.

The current warming is less than the Mediæval Warm Period, which was lower than the Roman Warming, which was lower than the Minoan Optimum.   Moreover the trend line over the period peaks at about seven thousand years ago, and has declined ever since.  I have said it again and again, but I make no apology for repeating it: the current warming is modest, and is part of a well-established, long term, natural climate cycle.  There is no reason to believe that it’s caused by human activity, and no reason to regard it as dangerous.  Indeed the cyclical pattern is so clear and well-defined that it’s amazing that the whole climate alarmist industry has failed to recognise it.  We’ve done enormous economic damage for a theory which is self-evidently nonsense.

Longer term: Pattern of Interglacials:

There is a broader pattern over the last two million years of warmer Interglacial periods lasting typically ten to twelve thousand years, every 120,000 years or so (with severe glacial conditions in between).  Consider that pin-up species of the alarmists, the polar bear.  Polar bear populations survived the Minoan and Roman and MWP warmings perfectly well.  (How do I know? Because they’re still with us!).  But it’s also true that their ancestors, who in evolutionary terms were pretty similar to today’s polar bears, survived previous warm periods.  And the Eemian Interglacial around 120,000 years ago was warmer than the current interglacial.  (Note: While the alarmists weep crocodile tears over the fate of the polar bear, out there in the real world polar bear populations and numbers are doing rather well).

So perhaps the BBC would like to take note.  There may indeed be a major extinction event under way (though the climate alarmists love to be – well – alarmist, and tend to exaggerate).  If so, I’d say it was caused by the pressure of human populations, by habitat loss, and by changed agricultural practices.  The one thing it certainly wasn’t cause by is global warming, since demonstrably no such extinction event took place during previous, and warmer, climate optima.

Of course if you read the climate record (which climate alarmists are so reluctant to do – they dismiss the past as “the pre-industrial period”, as though climate started 150 years ago, rather like Pol Pot and Year Zero), you will know that Interglacials typically last ten to twelve thousand years, and that the current Interglacial has been with us for — well – ten to twelve thousand years.  The financial services ads remind us that the past is not necessarily a guide to the future, but it’s the best indicator we have, and may be reliable for long-term cyclical events, (which pace the alarmists, are clearly driven by astronomical factors, not human activity).  If so, then we should indeed be deeply worried at the prospect of climate change.  Not +2oC, but -10oC.  And a mile of ice over Chicago.  And Glasgow.  And Helsinki.

The EU has a `climate change` policy which I presume recommends wind farms and solar panels, costing members, some with a limited income such as Greece, with really only tourism, to spend high figures on meeting requirements.
I presume mostly to Germany & France.
The wind farms create turbulence both on hillsides and at sea affecting local weather conditions, this is blamed on `climate change` so perpetuating the myth!
Some members of the EU go down, others flourish!
Why does Germany not return the Greek gold reserves they took, plus interest?
    This may solve their problems!
If Britain had taken them I`m sure we would have been persuaded by Brussels? to compensate them..

Thanks for this reminder of current global insanity. We can’t save the world, but we can keep in mind that

“Happiness is a by-product from knowing and fulfilling our own purpose in life:

We each have the same purpose: To make this beautiful, bountiful and benevolent universe even better because we are part if it.”

I’m surprised you can understand the accent twangs on there. Thats if its BBC World Service.

I usually wait after the opening of any BBC program for when Climate Change slips in. They often wait till I drop off…from sheer boredom.

I’m still seeking the precise AGW CO2 volume (or traces of) thats causing the swelling of multi dimwits bank accounts. Its carefully drawn in on top of natural CO2 emissions, but I just cannot physically detect it anywhere.

Its like the Neta power generation graph with the windy stuff ever so lightly (tiny) perched on top of Gas/Coal/Connector/Other suppliers…in orange. Same as the green energy stuff thats supposed to be supplied…cannot detect it amongst the joules/sec clicking my meter over? Wait a min…I’m not with a green energy supplier.

Osbourne got it wrong on free Road Tax for Elect vehicles.

Can’t really add anything except to ask of anyone with ‘any’ commonsense is running that show ? Or should that be shower ?
There was a time when abroad, as many others service and civilians will agree, that we looked to the BBC for the real accurate news if we wanted to know what was going on around us.
Now you need to speak Arabic !
    Allah Kareem !

    • Ex-expat Colin says:

yes we did and the arabs (some ministers/military). And let the darts begin with the awful drain on Black Label. Thats after an open air cinema film for the ex-pats. No Pimms…ever!

  4. Jane Davies says:

I often wonder how the future members of the human race will think of those of us here in the present. I’m sure they will be falling about laughing about how stupid these so called experts are. Much like we snigger at those who thought the world was flat!

    • B Hough says:

I`m sure they will think how gullible the British among others were,
If only we`d had a leader like Angela!!

      • Jane Davies says:

        Just inhaled my cornflakes!!!

(I’m nine hours behind UK time so it’s breakfast time here!)

      • B Hough says:

Hi Jane, hope you didn`t choke!
I was just being cynical, we stabbed the commonwealth in the back and joined the German empire!
If only Hitler had used the same methods as Angela a lot of lives could have been saved.

“Poland ‘ashamed and sorry’ for MEP’s Nazi salute to EU lawmakers”

It would be funny if this EU thing was not out of control and run by a fuhrer or indeed a small group of same.

This came from the RT site, so I guess all the other media were afraid to offend. No…afraid of the very near truth I think!

      • Jane Davies says:

I wonder if Poland is really “ashamed and sorry” after all they are under the dictatorship of the German’s again and the sad part is they went willingly, a bit like lambs to slaughter, and it was too late once the truth dawned. This undemocratic shambles of an organisation is slowly sliding down the toilet I just wish there were more handles so we could just get rid of it with one huge flush.

  5. omanuel says:

What a sad, sad state of affairs for all humanity, driven by a 1945 decision to “save society from annihilation” by hiding from the public the source of energy that destroyed Hiroshima – NEUTRON REPULSION in cores of
    _ 1. The universe
    _ 2. The galaxies
    _ 3. Ordinary stars
    _ 4. Some planets
_ 5. All atoms heavier than ~150 amu (atomic mass units) including atoms of Uranium & Plutonium that destroyed Hiroshima & Nagasaki on 6 & 9 AUG 1945.

The BBC played a key in the attempt to save the world by destroying the integrity of government science and limits on governments.

The pulsar core of the Sun made and sustains every atom, life and planet in the solar system, perhaps guided by the “conscious and intelligent Mind” Max Planck recognized behind the “matrix of all matter” in 1944.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave,

Insanity: Lack of Contact with Reality

After WWII nations and national academies of science were united into a giant, worldwide Orwellian Ministry of Consensus Scientific (UN)Truths on 24 Oct 1945 to prohibit public knowledge of NEUTRON REPULSION – the source of energy in cores of galaxies, ordinary stars, some planets and all atoms heavier than ~150 amu (atomic mass units), including atoms of uranium and plutonium that vaporized Hiroshima and Nagasaki and mentally crippled leaders of nations and national academies of science with fear-based insanity (loss of contact with reality).

      Click to access Introduction.pdf

AGW is only one of four major Nobel Prize-winning falsehoods disguised as consensus science after Joseph Stalin emerged victorious from WWII and united nations (UN) and national academies of science (NAS) into a giant, worldwide Orwellian Ministry of Consensus Scientific (UN)Truths!

      1. Anthropologic Global Warming
      2. Standard Nuclear Model
      3. Standard Solar Model
      4. Big Bang Cosmology

These falsehoods are designed to hide NEUTRON REPULSION – the source of energy used to power the cosmos, the Sun and to endow mankind with inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Loss of contact with reality threatens the ability of humanity to survive and prosper 1AU (astronomical unit) from the pulsar-centered star that sustains our lives.

      • omanuel says:

Stalin’s planed expansion of the boarder of the old USSR failed in part because my research mentor, the late Professor of Nuclear Geochemistry at the Imperial University of Tokyo, P. K. Kuroda:

_ a.) Risked his life by retaining secret possession of Japan’s atomic bomb design for fifty-seven years: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/2170881.stm
_ b.) Assigned research projects to reveal Stalin’s secret in 1960 “The origin of the solar system and its elements.”

The late Sir Fred Hoyle also frustrated the drive for world domination by exposing in his autobiography how abruptly the Sun’s composition was changed from
_ c.) Mostly iron (Fe) in 1946 to
        _ d.) Mostly hydrogen (H) in 1946

  6. Richard111 says:

    Quite so omanuel.

Roger, I believe that a partial extinction of the human race is what is on the cards. There is this desperate push to get ‘renewables’ in place before the cold effects step in. Food production will drop, exacerbated by break down of engineering on harvesting and delivery. Next will be small intertribal wars and I don’t mean in under developed countries only. The real cold will eventually reduce the northern hemisphere population. After that? Who knows. History shows that usually a nutter takes charge. Hopefully a group of wise man, if any survive, will take charge and encourage a humane policy. As long as they don’t turn it into a religion.

    • Flyinthesky says:

“partial extinction” The essential question is: by consequence or intent.
It seems like this whole globalisation thing is like a game of monopoly, it’s gone a bit wrong so let’s throw all the pieces off and start again.
I still maintain that this global trade thing is the biggest Ponzi scheme ever and the later entrants to it are the ones that are going to get the haircuts.

  7. Flyinthesky says:

The difference between the earlier periods of warming and this one is the earlier administrations wouldn’t have spent their time figuring out how best to monetise it, they did what we should be doing now, adapt to it.

    • Jane Davies says:

Spot on Flyinthesky, too many people out to make a fast buck on anything these days. Governments are in such a hurry to screw everyone and everything they have lost sight of the obvious….adapt or die. Too late the fat cat opportunists of the world will realise there are no pockets in a shroud and even they will perish one day in their protective bubbles or underground bunkers.

  8. Ex-expat Colin says:

ello, ello..whats going on here then? or allo, allo in french

    Scientists, models and the Sun…kerching!

    • Jane Davies says:

Jo Bloggs is finding this all so confusing. All of this contradicting info flying around, on the one hand the world is warming, then it’s heading into an ice age, coffee is good for you , then it’d not, red wine is good (now this one I’m on board with!) then it’s not. Fat was the bad boy for decades then guess what, now it’s not!
I wish these science people would make up their minds….do I buy more thermal undies or do I not!!
      Answers on a postcard please.

      • Ex-expat Colin says:

BBC TV weather forecast last night for the coming week. Computer says…there are two scenario’s with a high pressure area either on the left or right of Britain and air flows northerly or southerly. That could mean sunny in one direction or cooling in the other. Ah, but there is a third scenario where its a bit of both? You’ll just have to wait and see …..please keep paying your dues.

But thats just weather, so its not important because climate is changing and people are weeping because their children won’t get to nosh a crustacean or two? There must be an awful lot of beer cans and kitchen implements sticking out of the front of LED TV screens?

      • Flyinthesky says:

That’s the trick Jane, Joe has to remain confused because if he was aware they’d all be down the toilet.
Warming? Hence the new “climate change” definition, It’s really great, they get to monetise it which ever way it goes or even if it’s stays the same. Cool plan eh! , no pun intended.
Salt is not that bad either. The new demon and tax opportunity is sugar apparently.

    • Jane Davies says:

This man is a joke and very dangerous, if he gets voted in to run for president then the USA’s credibility will take a nosedive.

      • Ex-expat Colin says:

He’s very rich and does not give a toss I think. He says what he see’s that’s wrong and ruining the USA (and EU). I don’t think he wants to be president really and who on earth other than a real physco would qualify for that job. He just gets so say logical stuff.

He reckons Chinese double glazing products are crap…he is dead right on that!

  11. Brin Jenkins says:

Omanuel I’m getting interested in the WW2 atomic bomb projects. The Norwegian story, “Heavy Water War” suggested that a consignment of material on a German U Boat was captured and taken very quickly to Los Alamos! History rather glosses over any Japanese developments but it looks like it was Hitler’s last hope, and closer to fruition than the public knew? This might explain why it was felt necessary to drop a second device?

I’m sure in the past that you explained the Neutro replusion theory but I no longer have a location for it, can you give me a location that I might read about this please?

    many thanks

    brin
